A work of this kind has been demanded by the people for years past . From time to time individuals , more , or less closely connected with the medical profession , have sought to take advantage of the fact . But , heretofore , any attempt to convey medical instruction to the people has been so generally disapproved off that no one who valued his professional I standing could be induced to write or contribute to such a work .
