the volume , which has to do with the writers and writings of the books called * The Minor Prophets . ' Students of the Bible are sure to
welcome this useful and scholarly book . From Mr . David Nutt . — ' The Tragedy of Captain Harrison ; or , The Brownlow Street
Mystery , ' by R . C . J . This tragedy , enacted in London nearly two centrfries ago , is * put together historically and conjecturallyfrom the
, conflicting reports of the * Tryal of Hen . Harrison , Gent ., and the last words of the convict . ' Mrs . Vanwycka young widowwith
a moderate incomebecomes , infatuated , with Captain Harrison . She , loses her money through the dishonesty of an unscrupulous lawyer .
Captain Harrison seeks the advice and assistance of a Doctor Clinche in his efforts to secure the restitution of the money . Soon after the
interview Doctor Clinche is found - strangled ; and Harrison is accused , condemned and executed for the murder , whilst the public believed
him to be innocent . Such is the history which the writer h £ s thought it desirable to reproduce .
From Messrs . G . F . Putnam ' s Sons . —* Horatio Nelson and the Naval Supremacy of England . ' By W . Clark Russell . Illustrated . This is the
first volume of a new series of books , entitled * Heroes of the Nations , ' under the general editorship of Mr . Evelyn Abbott . There is not
much original research apparent in Mr . Clark Russell ' s treatment of his fascinating theme , but his estimate of Nelson is distinguished by
care as well as by that breezy picturesqueness of style which the author of The Wreck of the " Grosvenor - ^ r' "' has i taught us to expect - — ¦— and »*—¦ " ¦¦

Lady Hamilton , . The book is well illustrated boldly printed , and handsomely bound , and if , the other volumes keep up to the same level of
literary interest and skill the success of the series is not , we imagine , open to much doubt . From Messrs ¦ ¦ . Baithby & LawrenceLeicester ~ "

originality and artistic finish . Both in typography , colouring , and design , the collection presents a distinct advance in high-class
printing . The examples are suitable for circulars , programmes , menus , certificates , business cards , & c , and should be inspected by the trade and

Ideas of Evolution , as Related to Revelation and Science , ' by Sir J . W . Dawson , C . M . G ., F . R . S . & c . This is a work on an
increasingly , popular subject , and there is much to admire in the manner in which it has been handled by the author . The object of the book
is to examine , in a popular way , and to test by scientific facts and principles , the validity of that multiform and brilliant philosophy of the
universe which has taken so deep a hold of the science and literature of our time . If the work cannot be described as of the highest value in
this particular field of inquiry , it is one nevertheless that will greatly help to a better under-¦ standing ¦ of the ft doctrine h hh ¦¦ ¦— of h evolution h ¦ and its
relationshi v ^» ^^^ r ^^^^^ ^»^» —^ b ^^^^^^^^ ^ M ^^^ p to ^^ ^^^^^ - ^^ reli = ~ - ^ - ^^ giou - ^— — s questions — - ^ - - — and — — — — , -g current — — thought . Those who wish to get some light on problems connected with the alleged lack of
harmony between science and revelation may consult the volume with much advantage . The conclusions which Sir J . W . Dawson has
reached may not satisfy those who hold extreme views on either side , but they will serve to dissipate prejudices , as well as to give the
general reader a clear idea of the issues at stake . From the same . —* The Life and Work of Mary
