    special eminence in the department of Christmas card productions , their publications being noted for a singularly high style of artistic decorationin

    which is blended a rare richness in the harmony , of colours . One matter which seems deserving of notice in connection with this firm is that they let

    their customers know the names of the various designers . This knowledge often adds a considerable amount of interest to a cardand isbesidesa

    guarantee of newness in the desi , gn . Some , of the , cards have , we observe , rhymes from the pen of Miss H . M . Burnside , who has established a name

    for herself as a writer of Christmas verse . In every respect Messrs . Hildesheimer & Faulkner ' s cards are fully as attractive this year as in former

    cheap price . All Messrs . Marlboroug , h , Gould y , & Co . ' s cards are hand-painted , and there are usually seven designs for each series . Flowers ,

    of course , are the leading subjects , and it is here that we get those exquisite gradations of colouring which it is impossible to obtain in ordinary printing .

    The landscapes , including snow scenes of rare ability , and figures , are also 'worthy of a moed of praise . Those who wish to send to their friends a

    Christmas compliment that is really worthy of preservation should inquire for the monotints on porcelain which are among Messrs . Marlborough ' s

    goods . Their real Fern , Moss , and Flower cards will speak for themselves . These real sprays are arranged with great caresecuring an effect
