We regret to announce the deathon the 23 rd of Octoberat his residence Brookfield , , , Putney , of Mr . Arthur Suttaby , late of the house of Suttabys , Amen Corner . Born on ivember 20 ± 1813 010

. After serving his apprenticeship to Messrs . Jones & Brown , wholesale stationers , then of St . Paul ' s Churchyard , the deceased in 1838 joined his brothers , Robert and George , the latter
retiring in 1846 , when the firm became R . & A . Suttaby , and remained under that title till June , 1882 . Robert died in 1853 and Arthurafter having conducted the concern with the
, , assistance of his nephew , Francis Arthur , retired last year , a new firm being formed , comprisina Mr . Francis A . Suttab 3 ^ and Mr . George Short , under the title of Suttafcy & Co . The deceased
was eminently respected as a singularly upright unassuming gentleman , who in his business may be said to have carried the Bible to his counting-house in the highest as well as in its literal sense
. To those who knew him bestand loved himhe will be remembered for his l-hearted benevolence and truly Christian ^ , zeal . In early , life he took great interest in the establishment arge
of Sunday Schools , and devoted himself lovingly and sedulously to their superintendence until broken health obliged him a few years since to relinquish them to other hands . In his church

history of boys' literature ever came to be written , Captain Mayne Heid would fill a good many of its pages . At a rough calculationhe wrote some fifty or sixty novels during his
, literary career , many of them , of great length . Besides these there were innumerable contributions to magazines arid newspapers . We believe that the last tale he wrote will appear in
