ALL the illustrations are specially engraved from photographs sent from Borne , among which will be the birthplace of the Pope ; the Church he attended as a boy ; scenes of his early life at Perugia ; exterior and interior views of St . Peter ' s Church ; views showing the Pope upon his Throne , and taking recreation in the Garden of the Vatican ; many full-paged views of the Palace of the Vatican , both exterior and interior , showing the priceless works of art contained therein ; panoramic views of the Village in which the Pope was born , of the Eternal City , and , in fact , everything of interest in his life . One book is already advertised which may deceive the public and lead them to believe that it is the book specially commended by the Pope , statirlg in an advertisement that it contains commendatory letters from the Pope , and Cardinals Manning and Howard ; whereas neither the Pope nor the Cardinals referred to had ever seen or heard of the book advertised . But in 1878 , the first year of the Pope ' s Pontificate , a certain photograph of his Holiness was commended by these Cardinals , and these letters of commendation have been appropriated and applied to a poorly-engraved lithograph , which no one of them ever saw , making it appear in this advertisement to be a commendatory letter in regard to the book .
