Boz ' s Last Work . —It mnst be a matter of surprise to the public generally to perceive how varied are the opinions expressed by the leading newspapers , with respect to Mr Dickens ' o last publication . It may well be imagined tlia : some adverse criticisms upon the works of ibjs and other celebrated authors may proceed from personal feelings or educational prejudices . These , however , could account for but a few . The majority , as we have the best medical authority fur stating , may be ascribed to irritability oftemprr , generally arising from a deranged state of the liver and other viscera , and which could easily be remedied by the occasional use of Frampton ' s I'illof Ilealtb . which is gentle in lia operaiioa and

character of an Englishman , that' imies a paltry subterfuge—a humbug legislation . Thus we find that another step has been tokennot only his Chartism gone to the POLL , but it is going into the HOUSE . The triumphant return of Mr O'Connor for Nottingham were of itself ottfficient victory to signalise these elections . But , when we 'instance , in addition to that glorious event , the ra-, pid strides the principle is malting in tun Boroughs , we feel that we have indeed reason to congratulate ourselves on the result that has crowned our efforts . Our enemies knowthis . The dastardly press steps
down from its contemptuous silence—to indulge in sarcasm and senseless abuse . They dare aot report the speeches of Chartist candidates—but treat their ¦ readers in a sadly uBt ' air way , by abusing something 'they do not trouble themselves to inform the public about . But they are missing their way here . The public cannot fail to know the progress Chartism iB making—and this veil of secrecy will but render them more avid to learn that which so much trnubleis taken to conceal . But the Press i * only apiiling its last venom—this is but tho preparatory step towards
advocating the ClarW ; not but what the Charter can publish itself : it has not gone to hole and corner meetings—it has singled out the highest opponents , and sought the loftiest stage . It has struck at th « head of oppo .-ition—whether in the steps of a Cabinet Minister at Nottingham , a Chancellor of the Exchequer at Halifax , a Foreign Secretary at Tiverton , or Whig official at , Shtfthld . These will be food for cabinet councils ! Tho falling ministers will look blankly at the coining session , ami say—we have weathered the storm this time with many a scar—but how shall we fare the next ?
O&e hope they indulge in , that the fire thus kindled will burn out of itself ; that the organisation of the noo-eleotors will not last , and thus the pressure from without dissoh-e itself away . NEVE R ! Let our non-electoral friends remember that this is faction's only chance ! They have worked well on the present occasion , and if they now relax , all the mtmey , all the time , all the trouble they have
exponded this time will be worse than thrown away . If they give up THIS time , they will not bs able to make an impression the NEXT . ' No doctor will believe their words or fear their threat * -, exclusive dealing , so crushingiy used against them , would lose its charm in their hands— and it is only by carrying thatiystem out . without relaxation , as a PROTEC T 1 VE WEAI'ON . that success can be nrrii-ed at THE NON ELECTORS MUST NOW BEGIN
TO WORK FOR THE NEXT . ELECTION : The session of this Parliaraeit must be one lonjj c ; iuvass in behalf of Rijrbt , and , we believe , it will not be very long either . The Whig and Tory league is made up of such unstable elements , that we do not anticipite any very great continuanco for the present Parliament , and the people will again , ere long be called upon to add others to that CHARTIST BENCH , the nucleus of which they have already so nobly formed . We feel convinced that several ot the boroughs so gallantly contested this time will be suc- , .
cessfully contested on tho next occasion . But we must ba up and stirring , no rest , no flinching , till we have triumphed ; the path is clear , the In-art is boid , be the perseverance untiring . On then , gallant sol diers , in the great cause , continue your peaceful mareh to victory . In otht r countries blond disgraces the popular triumphs ; here we arc . strong enough to maintain peace . Law and order are the handmaidens of progression ; let them wait upon that flag on which is written in lasting characters , — THE CHARTER AND NO SURRENDER ' » ¦ ? l > s

TRIUMPH OF CHARTISM . Our principles have made a glorious stand . Was ttere any evidence necessary of the deep hold they have taken of the public mind and heart , it has been given at the elections . Time was , when starting a Chartist Candidate was little less than a chimerical affair ; an effort that , however , was sure not to go beyond a hustings speech . Even this was considered
an achieveraent-and so it was . It was the national voice clamoring to he heard amid the din of faction . Honour to those , who undaunted by the interposing phalanxes of parly—by the appliances of power-by the snee : s and laughter of their enemies—Ivy the contemptuous , though cowardly silence of the Press , cast forth the seed upon the water , to strike root at last after many storms—to flourish after many
seasons . Evidence of the growing power of the Charter , it has advanced another step , from the hustings to th * poll . Ah ! There is a deep significance in this . Let government take the aggregate of electors who voted for the Charter at this General Election , and they will find there matter for thought and fear for their monopolies . They well know the developement of our principlas can not stop there . The bright example once given , others v ill swell the phalanxand this new element infused into the conitHuencv ,
must go spreading from the very constitution of its power . And vixv ? For two reasons—the first is that those electors who voted for Chartist Candidates on this occasion , are some of the most enlightened , some of the best , some of the wealthiest in their respective boroughs . The Whigs and Tories chiefly got those who were the worst of the Electoral body , who could be bought , bribed , and made drank . Let no one construe thic into an argument against Universal Suffrage , inasmuch as , be it remembered , it is only the present limited franchise that enables faction
to keep a portion of the constituencies in their present degraded and . demoralised conditiou . The second reason , that ensures the happy developement cf the Democratic priaqple , at the same time still &rther proves the practicability ; nay , even the expediency of Universal Suffrage . It is the combinatiec and organisation on depart of the non-electors , to focse their principles on . the constituent bodies . What must be— must fe , and it is always wise to bow to auiinevitable necessity with a good grace—the more < £ 3 , if resistance would . turn the supposed evil into arrealhv .
EXCLUSIVE DEALING , . one of the great weapofisso long wielded by the oppressor , is now being wielded by the oppressed—and thus intimidation is daaisned to enforce Right . In those cases where tlikffeils of its efiect , it can . only be through grosser in&aidation on the other side ; while failure can hut increase the angry feeling . entertained by the Non-Etesti-e to tfce Elective portion of the community . TlmctUiepresent system goesoncharging the battery witt ^ stlditional power—to explode fearfully at last , if i \ s noxious elements are not
conducted safely intvftve channel of Unic « rsal . Suffrage . The Electors theatres are harassed by the exclusive privilege they ^ possess . All long far the J 8 ALLOT , many for the C&ARTER . They look for this to screen them from ilte arrows of party fcate- ^ id so wretched is the sjsteta that numbers rua away at an election time , others intentionally disqualify themsek . es , and many l * aldJy refuse to vote at all , since they cannot ; do so with safety . How bad must be tUatprinciple ( if principle it can be called )
which demoralises and reudere ineffective the very machinery it uses—nay ! goes is very contradiction of itseif ! On the noB&jation day many thousands elect a Member , on the next day a few hundreds unseat him and elect ano&er . Where is there ' principle'inthis ? The thousands of the one day are made faoU of by \ be hundreds of the next . Far better not have put them to all the trouble , loss of time and money , of Calling them together , if they are to be insulted by a miserable minority reversing their decree .
It is these glaring anomalies that at turning the ntfuds of the Electors—these palpable absurdities disgust them-aad . ( here is something jn the
