Price , 93 , Dame-street , Dublin ; and by all Booksellers , in the United Kingdom . *• " The various forms of bodily and mental weakness , incapacity , suffering and disease , faithfully delineated in this cautiously written aud practical work , are almostunknown , generally misunderstood , and treated on principles correspondingly erroneous and superficial , by the present race of medical practitioners . Hence the necessity for the publication of a timely safeguard , a silent yet friendly monitor , or , where debility has made threatening inroads , the means of escape and the certainty of restoration . The eFils to which the book adverts are extensive and identical in their secret and hidden origin , and there are none to whom , as Parents , Guardians , Heads of Families , and especially of Public Schools , is confided the care of yonng people , who ought to remain for a moment devoid of that information and those salutary cautions this work is intended to convey . Not only are th&most delicate forms of generatire debility neglected by the family physioian , but they require for their safe management the exolueive study of a life entirely abstracted from the routine of general practise , and ( as ia other departments of the profession ) attentively concentrated in the daily and long continued observation requisite for the correct treatment of sexual infirmities . " If v ? e consider the topics touched upon either in a moral or social view , we find the interests and welfare of mankind seriously involved . The effects of licentious , indiscriminate and secret indulgence in certain practices , are described with an accuracy and force which display at once profound reflection aad extensive practical experience . " —The Planet . "The best of all friends is the Profk ? sional Friend , and in no shape can he be consulted with greater safety and seortcy than in "Lucas on Mauly Vigour . " The initiation into vicious indulgence—its progress—its results in both sexeB , are given with faithful , but alas 1 for human nature , with afflicting truth . Howevex , the Authors have not exposed the evil without affording a remedy . It shows how M Manly Vigoub" temporarily impaired , and mental and physical emasculation , produced by uncontrolled indulgence of the passions , can be restored ; how the sufferer , who has pined in anguish from the consequences of earl } indiscretion—afraid almost to encounter his fellow-man , can regain tho vigour of health and moral courage . The work is written in a concise and porspicuous style displaying how often fond parents are deceived by the outward physical appearance of their youthful offspring ; how the attenuation of the frame , palpitation of the heart , derangement of the nervous system , cough , indigestion , and a train of symptoms indicative of consumption or general decay , are often ascribed to wrong causes ; and instead of being the natural results of congenital debility or disease , are the consequences of an alluring aud pernicious practice , alike destructive to the mind and body . "—Sell ' s Nev > Weekly Messenger . " "Although a newspaper is not theordinary channel for the expression of opinion upon the merita of a medical work , this , remark is open to exception in any instance where the public , and not the isolated and exclusive members of tho profession , are the parties addressed . Upon that which ia directed to men indiscriminately , the world will form its own opinion , and will demand that medical works for popular study should be devoid of that mysterious technicality in which the eoienoe of medicine has hitherto shrouded ita own ignorance . Tho work before us treats of subjects we believe generally , yet very strangely , neglected by the medical attendant , and requiring doubtlessly ( aa in operative midwifery and the surgery of tho eye ) an entire devotedne 9 s to a deeply important branch of study . The tone of this book is highly moral , and it abounds in wellwritten , harrowing , yet correct displays of the suffering consequent upon unbridled sensualism . No human being can be the worse for its perusal ; to multitudes it must prove a beacon , a well-told appeal to reason , a permanot blessing . It is written * in a clear intelligible style , and is evidently the production of a mind long and practioally conversant with the diseases of the most delicate division of the human organization , "— The , Magnet . ** Tho security of happiness in thk marriage state is the chief anxiety of all ; but many dread entering upon wedded union , through a secret fear of unfitneas for the discharge of matrimonial obligations . This essay ic mo 3 t particularly addressed to all suffering under a despondency of the character alluded to ; and advice wiJl be found calculated to cheer the drooping heart , and point the way to renovated health . " Messrs . Lucas & Co . are to be daily consulted from ten till two , and from five till eight in the evening , at their residence , No . 60 , Newman-street , Oxford-street , London . THE BEST MEDICINE IN THE WORLD !! BEAD I AND JUDGE FOR YO DRS ELVES ! ! rpHE following statement of facts has beencom-X muuicated to the Proprietors of PARR'S LIFE PILLS : — I Messrs . T . Roberts and Co . ; Malton , Jan . 30 , 1843 . Gentlemen , —Though it is but a very short time since I last wrote for a supply of Parr ' s Life Pills , 1 fiud that owing to i an astonishing increase in the sale of them , I am again compelled to request you to send me twenty dozen of the small , as also a supply of the large 6 ize . I Should wish you to forward them by railway to York ^ thence by carrier , as early as possible , as I am afraid my present stock will be exhausted before they reach me . I enclose you the Case of a person who resides in Malion , and whose testimony may be relied upon aa being strictly correct . This is but one case selected from an almost incredible number of others , which have come under my notice , in which Cures have been effected by the use of Parr ' s Life Pills , Many highly respectable p ersons in tnis neighbourhood , who previous to the introduction of Parrts Life Pills had a decided dislike to Patent Medicines , are now thankful that they ' are able to add their testimonials to the beneficial efiesta of the ^ e pills . By forwarding me , without delay , the quaatity of pills as ordered above , you will oblige , Gentlemen , yours , respectfully , | J . WRANGHAM . Gentlemen , —When I consider the very great relief I have experieuced from the use of Parr ' B Life Pills , I think it not only to be my duty to you but to every one who may be suffering from similar complaints with which Ijhave been afflicted , to make my astonishing case as public as possible . For a loan time past I have been greatly troubled with a most severe nervous complaint , giddine 3 s , aud swimming in the head , whioh increased to such a degree that at times I was compelled to leave off from my work , being unable to bear the least fatigue or excitement . . At the suggestion of { many of my friends , I was induced to try various medicines , but found that my complaint instead of yiminishiog , was daily growing worse . Having fortunately heard of the beneficial offeots of Parr ' s Life } Pills , I resolved to give them a fair trial , though I must confess with but little hopes of deriving benefit from them , after having tried so many other medicines without success ; I immediately purchased a small sized box of Mr . Wrangham , chemist , the only agent for the sale of them in Malton , and fortunate indeed has it been for me that I did so , for though ] I have just finished taking this ono box , I find myself so far relieved that instead of daily , nay hourly , suffering from that dreadful oomplaiut , nervousness , with its attendant miseries , I am restored to my former good health ; my nerves are strong—the giddiuess and swimming in my head are totally removed , and jl am now able to attend regularly to my trade . Allowing you * o make whatever use you may think proper of this statement and being truly grateful for the benefit I have obtained from taking Parr ' a Life Pills . I am , Gentlemen , your obedient Servant , THpMAS PATTISON , Painter . N . B . I shall be glad to answer » ny enquiries respecting the good the pills have done ma . To Mr . T . Roberts land Co ., Crane Court , Fleetstreet , London . A most extraordinary Case of Cure communicated , by Mrs . Moxon of York . Mrs . Mathers , of that City , had for many years been affected with a most inveterate dise aee , which her medical attendants pronounced to be Cancer . It originated ia her breast , aad continued to spread nearly all over her body , defying every effort of surgical skill . Parr ' s Life Pills being recommended to her , she resolved to give them a trial ; and , epeakiag of the result , she says iahooannot express the inconceivable advantage which she haa already derived from them . She further states that she is now almost well , and ascribes her convalescence solely to the persevering use of that so » ereign medioine Part ' s Life Pilis . i From F . Mattheisz , Jaffra , Ceylon i Jaffra , October 17 th , 1842 . Sir , —I beg to inform you that having undertaken the small supply of tbi celebrated Parr ' s Life Pills , lately received aere from you by the Rev . P . Roberts aud Co ., Proprietors of P ' Life Pills , Crane-Court , Fleet-streot . Communicated by Mr . H . Foster , Chemist , Winchester . East Stratton , near Winchester , Dec . 13 th , 1842 . Sir , —You w > H remember I Beat to your shop for a bottle of medicine round whioh was a paper containing testimonials of | cures effected by the use of Parr ' a Life Pills . Amongst many others I observed one ; a oase of Rheumatism , which appeared to me similar to my own case , and seeing it so successfully treated , simply by the use of Parr ' s Life Pills . I resolved upon giving that invaluable medicine a fair trial . I had been afflicted with Rheumatism many years , and at the time to whioh I refer waa suffering acutely . I determiacd , as I have said , on giving Old Parr ' s remedy a fair trial ; and accordingly sent for a box of the Life Pills . B / the use of these pills I am enabled to say that I am now as well as e > er I have been during the whole of my life . Thank God , I can uow walk as well as ever I did . At the time when I first tried Parr ' s Life Pills , I could scarcely walk during the day-time ; and at night I could get no sleep . I am now enjoying excellent health , and sleep soundly , and I am free from pain of every kind . I am , Sir , yours , &c . JAMES DANIELLS . ( aged 55 years . ) Mr . H . * Foster , Chemist , Winchester . Parr ' s Life Pills are \ acknowledged to be all that is required to conquer disease and prolong life . No medioine yet offered to the world ever so rapidly attained suoh distinguished celebrity ; it is questionable if there now be any part of the civilized world where ita extraordinary healing virtues have not been exhibited . This signal success is not attributable to any-system of advertising , but solely to th » strong recommendations of parties cured by their use . At this moment the Proprietors are in possession of nearly 590 letters from influential , respectable , and intelligent members ; of society , all bearing testimony to the great and [ surprising benefits resulting from the use of the medicine . This is a mass of evidence in its favour such ! as no other medioine ever yet called forth , and places it in the proud distinct ( ion of being not only the most popular but the most A &luable remedy ever discovered . ] CAUTION—BKWABB OP IMITATIONS . i In order to protect the publio from imitations , the Hon . Commissioners of Stamps have ordered the words PiRB' 9 Lh ? b Pills to be engraved on the Government Stamp , which is pasted round the side , of each box , in whits letters on a red ground Without this mark of authenticity they areispurious and , an iinposition V Prepared by the Proprietors , T . No man ever lived that , by his pea , produced such effects upon the history of the world , or benefited mankind so nobly . They were trembling in the balance between the desire to vindicate their rights aud the dread of England ' s power . "Common Sense" appeared , and England and its myrmidons flew into the air . For this alone , he deserves the perpetual gratitude of all mankind ; aud the noblest monument that can be reared to his memory is the works that he left for our use . . Strange as it may appear , there has yet been no complete and cheap edition of his works . Richard Carlile placed them beyond the reach of the workiDg classes when he published them for £ 2 2 s ; and the lowest price for which they can now be obtained is 153 .
