In the Times newspaper of the 10 th June , we find the substance of the 22 d Report of the Public Petition Committee , containing an account of the petitions , with the number of signatures
attached to them , presented to the House of Commons , up to the 24 th May last . The document is a curious and instructive one . We have taken the trouble to classify the petitions according to their objects , to note their order as to the number of signatures , and to calculate the average of signatures to a petition , on each topic . The latter is given in whole numbers , reckoning a fraction as one when not less than the half .
