Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed in him : 'If ye abide in my word , ye are truly my disciples , and shall know the truth ; and the truth shall make you free / They answered him : 6 We are Abraham ' s offspring , and were never slaves to any one ; how sayest thou , "Ye shall be made free ? " ' Jesus answered them : * Verily , verily , I say ^ u ^ to ^ yQUji ^¦ very one who committeth sinTis a sla ^^ f ^ iF ~ I ^ vTEe slave abideth not in the house for ever ; the son abideth [ there ] forever . If then the son make
you free , ye shall be free indeed . I know that ye are Abraham ' s offspring ; but ye seek to kill me , because my word hath no place in you . That which I have seen with my father , I speak ; and that which ye have seen with your father , ye do . ' They answered and said unto him : ' Abraham is our father / Jesus saith unto them : ' If ye were Abraham ' s children , ye would do the works of Abraham . But now ye seek to kill me , a man , who have spoken to you the truth , which I have heard from God ; this Abraham did not . Ye do the works of your father / Then said they unto him : * We were not born of fornication ; we have one fatheiV

Verily , verily , I say unto you : If any keep my word , he shall never see death / Then said the Jews unto him : Now we know that thou hast a demon . Abraham is dead , and the prophets ; yet thou sayest : " If any keep my word , he shall never taste of death ; " art thou greater than our father Abraham , who is dead ?
The prophets also are dead ; whom makest thou thyself ? ' Jesus answered :. If I glorify myself , my glory is nothing . It is my father who glorifieth me , of whom ye say , that he is your God ; yet ye know him not , but I know him ; and if I say that I know him not , I shall be like you , a liar ; but I know him , and keep his word .
