The meeting was characterised by the same spirit of Christian zeal and harmony for which we are happy to say all the preceding Anniversaries have been distinguished . There was the same zeal arid spirit on the part * of-the speakers ; the same candour and earnest attention on the part of the hearers .
On this occasion , however , there were some respects in which the Meeting possessed a peculiar interest . During the proceedings , Mr . It was particularly pleasing also to observe the kind spirit with which the chairman proposed , Prosperity to the Bank-street congregation ; ' and the frank and truly Christian temper in which that wish was responded to by the Rev , Mr . Baker and Mr , C . J . Darbishire

as then stated , the first General . Congregational Meeting ever held among us . Many of our friends doubted the possibility of assembling any together at such a Meeting . Some doubted its utility . Oiir _ numbers therefore , comparatively , were but few ; ( about 45 ;) but those who
were present , were so much pleased , that it was unanimously resolved to hold another such Meeting on the succeeding Good Friday in the sarne year . The result amply fulfilled our expectation ; and fully satisfied of the general utility of these Meetings it was then determined to hold one
annually \ on Good Friday , that being the only day in the year when all classes are alike at liberty to meet together ; - ^ -Of our i Jlrst ArviwM Meeting , ' then , held on Good Friday , April 5 , I now proceed to g ive you a brief account .
The pleasant character of the last year ' s Meetings had induced many who had only heard of them from report , to desire to attend this year in
