Mr . Marsom has favoured us with a Defence of the Pre-existence of Christ , a * reply to Mr . Belsham ; of which Letter J . shall appear in our next . The L . etter of W . from Plymouth , is highly gratifying-, as it expresses hi * good opinion of the conduct of our work , and also his agreement in opinion with us on an important political point ; but as the M . Repos . is a Theological an £ Aloral , and not a political work , we cannot discuss p ublic measures , though wc ^ may be sometimes called upon to advert to them . We rejoice that the letter of the Churchman , in our last , entitled , Unitarians not rational Christians /* is likely to provoke much interesting disunion . «* The
Fallacy of the Churchman ' s arguments exposed ^ ' pj ** A Unitarian Chiistian , ** shall have a place in our next . " < . f i Mr . Flower ' s reply to Mr . Palmer , on the Life of Robinson , came too late for the present , and ' shall appear in the succeeding member . Mr . Sturch , on natural religion , in strictures on a passage in the Bishop of London ' s sermons , with a variety of other communications , shall be inserted a § ea « ly as possible . We take it for granted , that Mr . Carpenter has closed j * i § reply to Mr . Belsharn's letters , unless therefore we hear further from that gentleman , we shall , ia our next , proceed with Mr . Belsham * s final answer , with which we have been £ . ) vnnrt- c \ . i—< ¦¦

We have received several subscriptions to the new version of-the New Testa ment , which have been ,, or shall be'forwarded * tp the treasure ^ of the ftind , far carrying on that object . We have also received a letter from a correspondent , signing him or herself fjustitia , dated London , May 7 ^ 1808 , enclosing fifteen p-uridiy five shillings , for the York Academy ; of which ten pounds is a present U * the furid t for procuring a third tutor * and the remaining five guineas an annual subscription . This handtoo
some contribution shall be duly applied . Our correspondent ' s letter ean ^ e late for insertion , but we give the substance of it . —**• Wishing to see the stare pf the subscription , &c . to the York Academy , the accounts of which are settled in February , he applied to one of the gentlemen whose name appears at the bottom of the annual statements , for the printed account . This wa $ on the last day in March . He told him . " ( our correspondent ) " that he liatj not received any papers , had heard nothing on the subject for several months , and very justly observed , that such institutions , however excellent , frequently come to nothing , for want of proper exertion /'—tn a subsequent note , our cor ? respondent informs us that he has n ^ a de inquiries , equally fruitless , within the preseut month , — - " He suggests to the trustees of jpie academy , the propriety
of publishing 121 a small pamphlet , the namen an 4 a ddresses of the subscribers , she amount of their subscriptions and donations , prefaced with a particular ao coqnt of the rise and progress of the academy , the number of pupils , expense cf sending one thither , the state of . the funds , form of . bequests , <^ c . Sec . One of ; these should be sent to every subscriber , and a certain number to every Unitarian chapel in the Kingdom , in which an annual collection for the academy is recommended , Sec . dec . At least ( jome of tfyese particulars might be published in tb * Monthly Repository , ( adds ou ? correspondent ) nothing being more desirable than . that the only impartial theological magazine sjiould subserve the interests of the only liberal theological ac . a < lemy in the kingdom . "
We have omitted nothing material in J ustitia ' s letter , of which the taana < t gors or friends ' of the York Academy , will take what notice they deem proper . It is to us a matter of great satisfaction that the Monthly Repository is be * coming increasingly serviceable , to all our liberal religious institutions , ^ his is * proof of its success ^ and < u& earnest of its iuture prosperity .
