sir , York , April 17 , 180 S . HAVE been desired to supply I you with ar memoir of my late invaluable friend the reverend William Wood , and were I able to delineate to others , with any
truth of colouring , a faithful re semblance , pf that vivid portrait of his majiy talents aiid virtues engr&veij for ever on my own re * jnembranee , I should with the grea . test alacrity take up my pen ;
for what means more likely to call forth every latent energy , and to strengthen ajid invigorate every virtuous resolution , than the frequent and serious contemplation of departed excellence ? But
though f cannot do fhis as well as I should wish , I will attempt it as well as I am able , and leaving it to others to draw a finished picture , will merely
