    solace and ghostly edification they are primarily designed , The Dissenters ^ as has been just remarked ^ can employ part of the > devotions of each returning Sabbath , in confessing private or national transgressions , and in supplicating for national mercies , hi every station of life , whether pr ivate , social , or public ,

    they can endeavour to show themselves good citizens , and valuable members of society . Insulted and seriously injured as many of them have lately been , exposed as the whole body of them yet are to the gross abuse and unfounded calumnies of a set of unprincipled anonymous periodical scribblers , they yet retain with undiminished zeal their habitual attachment to the

    person of their sovereign , and to the happy constitution of theit country . Though degraded by impolitic restrictions , though , exposed to the severe , the ruinous penalties of the test law , they have cheerfully come forward to join their fellow citizens in learning ; the use of arms ; and should the awful trying hour

This I conceive nqight be done without much difficulty , through the medium of your valuable Magazine ; and might probably bci a means of giving it great publicity and extent of circulation-I send you as a specimen ^ a pretty correct account of the
