In Clo^G Tfte To S^Tfe? Of Tfte Repositf...
In clo ^ g tfte to S ^ tfe ? of tfte REPositfaitY , we have endeavoured ( witfcjhe ' fejft & pt ^ Etaly / to conclude which was a fortunate impossibility , there being several more numbers in hand ) to bring all the matters in it to such termination , as would allow the reader to drop us if he t pleased . But woe betide him , if he does ; fpr if

These are bold words ; but-then they are magazine words ; and Everybody knows , that boldness and performance are identical Propositions fii the terminology of a magazine . Extremes , meet in

The article o £ tn ^ be divided into pw > portions ; and therefore , agreeably to qiir very handsome conduct , we could not insert one
of the two in the last tiumber of a volume ; and Mr Scott ' s poem has unfortunately been displaced by the pressure ^^^ of politieal matter . ¦ ^ t these mishaps are good for our January number ; which both these gentlemen will enrich . And , at the same time , will appear an account < ( with specimens ) of the witty Italian poem * BicciardettoV a piece of history frono ^ IMftiller , translated ^ tl ^ l ^ st of pur German scholars ; and a story rroni the pen of one of the most charming female writers of the age . The fair author is at a distance ; her contribution has come to us suddenly ; and we know not whether , in her inodeisty , she . chuscs to be designated more expressly ; so that we do not give her name ; but in no canting or advertising sense do we thus speak of her powers and reputation . Giir Hew Series has been in want of stories . We shall how set off with a capital omen thereupon . L . H .

Hitriiy Of Bi^Siness Has Prevented Us Fr...
HiTRiiY of bi ^ siness has prevented us from giving more than a glance at Mr Ws letter and packet ( from Ouildford ) ; but it shall have our best attention in the course of the month . ^ > ' The same to K , W . 3 ML-4 % gir B .- ~ J . D . —our friepd M . C . of Bevpnpprt ;—Mr Triebner;—A . H . —Frank . ;—G . H .- ~ O . Y . The signature of our valued correspondent H . was accidentally omitted in our last , to the verses entitled * Faith , Hone , and Charitv '
Our old friend and fellow-radical of the Kent Herald delighted us by his reminiscence ; and we were gl ^ d to see that he of the Northampton newspaper had not forgotten us . Most pleasant also is the friendliness with which we are honoured b y the Sheffield Iris and Brighton Patriot As to the critic and poet of the Casket * to thank him seems like thanking ourselves ; so completely are we accustomed to think alike .
