The report was adopted . The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney have concluded the necessary arrangements for opening a branch in London , under the management of Mr . Thomas Whistler Smith , the deputy chairman . The capital of the bank , which previously amounted to 240 . 000 Z ., was early in the present year increased to 320 , 0002 ., in order to meet _ the increasing business ; and the last dividend declared out of the profits was at the rate of 20 per cent , per
aanum . . - ., The half-yearly meeting of proprietors of the London and County Bank was held on Thursday . The gross profits of the six months have amounted to 100 , 1551 ., out of which the usual dividend at this period of the year of 5 per cent , for the half-year was declared , leaving , after deductions on account of interest , expenses , and rebate , a sum of 6 , 291 I . to be carried to the profit and loss new account , liie chairman mentioned that the result of-the operations was an increase of 3 , 500 ^ in th e profits , as compared with the previous half-year . The bills discounted and customers ' balances are larger than they have ever been before .
