Captain . Palmer , son of Sir Koger Palmer , h the Conservative candidate for the representation of Mavo in which county his father holds immense estates . The sitting members will solicit a renewal of their lease Mr G . H . Moore is the special protege of Archbishop JI'Hale " while Mr . Ouseley Higgins is more generally popular with the gentry , Whig and ToTy . After twenty-four years' service to the Tory party , Admiral Jones retires from the representation of the county of Londonderry Mr . longfield , Q . C ., Conservative , will , it h anticipated , offer himself for Cork .
Messrs . Grogan and Vance have issued , addresses for the -city of Dublin , in the Protestant interest . The names of Mr . John Reynolds , Alderman George Roe Mr . Francis Codd , and Mr . James Perry , are also mentioned . For Dublin University , the only candidate at present is a gentleman named Wilson , au ultra-Conservative . Mr . ~ W . E . Lendrick , a moderate Conservative , means to oppose the return of Mr . Kirk for the Newry Boroughs ; but it is thought he has but a poor chance . For Kew Ross , the candidates are—3 VIr . S . K . Graves ( chairman of the Shipowner ' s Association of Liverpool ) , Mr . Tottenham ( the sitting member ) j and Sir Thomas Redington .
Letters from Tralee state that Mr . Chute has declined the Conservative invitation to stand for the borough . Lieutenant-Colonel De Moleyns has also refused . The Conservatives , therefore , have no candidate . Mr . Butt will have to struggle for his seat for Toughal . His opponent will be BIr . Smich , of Ballinatray , a stout Tory , and a gentleman of considerable local influence . His sister is Princess of Capua , and sister-ia-law to the King of Naples . Mr . Waldron has declared his intention of again con ^ testing the eoxmty of Tipperary , and it is said to be the intention of The O'Donoghuc and Major Massy to stand together in opposition to him , upon the principles of tenant-right and independent opposition . Of the return of the two latter gentlemen do doubt is entertained in well-informed quarters by a much , larger majority than The O'Donoghue had last week .

SCOTLAND . There are three candidates for the suffrages of the electors of Bemick-ori-Tweed—Mr . Dudley Coutts Marjoribanks , Mr . M . Foster , and Mr . Stapleton . Mr . Black is the only candidate in the Whig interest for Edinburgh . Mr . John Fergus has addressed his Fifeshire constituency , soliciting re-election . He is one of the few Liberal representatives of Scottish counties . In the late division he gave his support to Lord Palrnerston . Mr ; D . Baxter , of Kilmaron , a Dundee merchant , has been waited on by a deputation , requesting him to appear as a candidate for the St . Andrew's Burghs , but haa declined . Mr . Ellice addressed a meeting of the electors of St . Andrew's on Friday week .
It is understood that Mr . Hope Johnatone , recently returned for Dumfriesshire , will again be elected without opposition . He voted in the majority against Ministers . Mr . W . Ewart , the sitting member for the Dumfries district of burghs , aaks again to be returned . The names of Colonel Graham , and of Mr . Caruthers , of Dormont , have been mentioned in connexion with the vacancy . Mr . Hannay , the author , has issued an address . : Mr . John Mackie will retire from the representation of the stewartry ( comity ) of Kirkcudbright . Mr . George Maxwell , of Glenlee , partner in a mercantile firm in Liverpool , and a proprietor in the district , has issued an address to the electors of the stewartry . He approves the doings of the Government and their representatives in China , and professes a decidedly Liberal creed .
Sir Andrew Agnew -will , it is believed , a 3 k to be reelected for Wigtonshire . He is a Liberal , and voted with the Government and against Mr . Cobden . Tliere is a rumour of opponents in the persons of the Hon . Viscount Garlies ( Conservative ) , and Mr . E . H . S . Blair , of Penninghame ( Liberal ) . After serving the Wigtou burghs for nearly a quarter of a century , Sir John M'Taggart has surrendered his trust . into the hands of the constituency . The adjourned ' 'meeting ' of the General anvd Parliamentary Committees of the Liberal Registration Association was hold at the London Tavern , Bishopsgatestreet , on Tuesday afternoon , for the purpose of considering the claims of the various candidates for the representation of the City . After some preliminaries , Sir James Duke explained why lie had not voted for Mr . after bis retiring address was issued , it was unanimously resolved that a requisition should be sent to Sir William . Dunbar , of Mockrura , inviting him to become a candidate . It ia understood that Sir William ( who is a Liberal ) will receive the powerful support of Lord Stair . The retiring member is a Liberal , and voted with the minority on the China question . Mr . Craufurd , the present member for the Ayr burghs —a Liberal , and supporter of Ministers during the recent crisis—is to be confronted at the coming election by an old rival , Mr . A . T . Boyle , advocate , who has started in the Conservative interest .

Dodson because that gentleman was anxious to get into Parliament as a supporter of Lord Palmerston ' s Government without giving any definite explanation of his political principles ; Imt there were two points upon which he entirely differed with Mr . Dodson . That gentleman was opposed to vote by ballot , and a supporter of the Maynooth grant . Now he ( Sir Jamos Duke ) had boen many years in Parliament , and , whilo ho had always set his face against atate grants to any church , he had always voted for thu ballot , and stood up for the cause of civil and religious liberty .
