      MONEY MARKET AND CITY INTELLIGENCE Saturday . In the beginning of the week the market for English Funds was very flat , and an uneasy feeling prevailed among dealers on account of the late decision of the directors of the Bank of England , which is felt to be unfavourable to speculation . The closing price of Consols on Monday was 96 | to 96 $ , and no alteration took place on the following day . On Wednesday , although the amount of business done was small , prices rose £ , and the market ruled firm . The improvement was maintained on Thursday , owing to the abundance of money , under the influence of which Consols advanced to 96 | , and , towards the close of business , some speculative purchases caused a further rise of J . This morning the market was buoyant . Consols opened at 96 . { to 96 g , and closod at an advance of £ .
