The Directors of this Company , in their endeavours to extend the benefits of Life Assurance , have adopted a system which they believe to be at once equitable and secure . It combines an ample Share ^ Capital with so much of the " Mutual" principle as will entitle the Policy-holder to a larg ^ e participation in the Ptroflts . Tlie distingxiishing feature of the Company is that the Share-Capital , will in the first Instance be the fund out of ¦ which all expenses , except those of collection , will be defrayed . The Premiums will be invested , and will form an Assurance Fund , whicli will at aJl times bo kept intact , and of an amount amply sufficient to meet existing liabilities . Thesurplus of assets over that amount will form the profit accruing to the Company . A Bonus eqxial to two-thirds of the ascertained Profits will , when declared , be distributed amongst tho Holders of Policies , then of live years' standing—the remaining onethird will be the property of the Shareholders . The Directors are bound to hold not less than 500 Shares each , and their remuneration is limited to the profits arising out of theiK respective sliares . Thus the directors and the Policy-holders have « ach a pecuniary interest' in promoting the success of tho Company and in protecting it froin fraud . Tho business is di-vidod into two Departments — The General -PepartnienC—which , comprises the granting of Policies for Sums of T . Q 01 . and "upwards , the Premiums on which aro payable quarterly , half-yearly , and annuallyand Tlie Inehistrial Department ~ which comprises tho granting of Policies tho Premiums on which aro payable weekly or monthly . The funds arising out of each will bo kept perfectly distinct , and the Bonus to tho Policy-holder will bo proportioned to tho Profits of tho Department to which his Policy bolomgs . Tho Assurances undertaken by tho Company will consist of— 1 . —Sums payable at death with or without participation in Bonus . 3 . —Sums payable , in tho event of death , beforo tho ages of 00 , 65 , ( 50 , or 05 , or 011 tho attainment of those ages . 3 . —Sums payablo in tho event of death , within a limited nimibor of years , or twin assurances . < t . —Assurances oni Joint Lives , Survivorship , and ono life against another . 5 . —Annuities payablo in tho event of ono lifo surviving another . Claims upon tho Industrial Department will bo paid promptly o \ x their verification ; those upon tho Gonoral Department , in tho proportion of onc-fowrth of tho amount within fourteen days , and tlio remainder within three months after their verification . Persons unablo to continue payment of their premiums , or desirouB to disoomtinuo them , will , after tliroo years ' payments , bo entitled to oxchango their Policies for a roducod amount , unencumbered with future payments . Polioios of flvo yon , ™ ' standing will , if required , bo purclmsod by the Compaxiy at a valuation .
