( Incorporated by Special Act of Parliament ) , With Limited Liability , For Constructing , Maintaining , and Working ( under the sanction and with the support of tho Government of India ) Si comprehensive system of Irrigation Works and Navigable Canals throughout the Presidency of Madras and the neighbouring territories of Berar , Couhin , Hyderabad , Mysore , Nagpoor , Orissa , the South Mahratta Country and Travancore ; and also throughout the Lower Provinces of Bengal , when the necessary powers shall have been obtained . Fifst capital , 2 , 000 , 000 ? . ( with power to increase } . First issue thereof . l . OOO . OOOZ- iii 50 , 000 shares of 202 . each . Upon which a perpetual minimum interest of 51 . percent , lias been guaranteed by the Secretary of State for India in Council , all surplus profits being divisible equally between the Government aiid the Company ; which arrangement is subject to be determined only by the Government purchasing the works constructed within six months after the expiration of each period of twenty-five years , at a sum equal to the market value of the shares of the Company on an average of the three preceding years . It is noodloss now ngnln to bring forward tho innumerable instances in whioh money has in tho l ' rosidonoy boon most advantageously invested iu irrigation works . Tho proceedings of Government hnvo , iu this rospoet , boon only too desultory and vaulliatliiK , and it is confidently ohsertod that India could bo placed in n potation to pay all her own expenses and gradually disohnrffo hordobt far more readily and spoodily by a Judicious expenditure than by any sonoma of retrenchment or reduction .

ACCIDENTS OP EVERY DESCRIPTION . £ 1000 IN CASE OF DEATH , OR A FIXED ALLOWANCE OF £ 6 PER WEEK IN THE KVENT OF INJURY , May be secured by an Annual Payment of £ 3 for a Policy in the RAILWAY PASSENGERS' ASSURANCE COMPANY . A special Act provides that persons receiving compensation from this Company are not barred thereby from recovering full damages from the part , ' causing the injury ; an advantage no other Company can offer . It is found that ONE PERSON in every FIFTEEN is more or less injured by Accident yearly . This Company has already paid as compensation for Accidents 27 , 9882 . This Company ' s Floating Derricks are eminently adapted to raising sunken and recovering stranded vessels . The annual number of Wrecks upon our coasts exceeds One Thousand , and the estimated value of this loss amounts to 2 i millions sterling . , , . A large proportion of these vessels may be recovered by the Patent Floating Derricks , and an agreement has been entered into with the Marine Insurance Companies , and Underwriters of London and Liverpool , , which ( after de ^ ducting working expenses ) secures to this Company 75 per cent , of the net salvage proceeds so recovered , from all vessels and cargoes , sunk prior to the date of tHe agreement . Two of these Derricks , belonging to the New York Company , havo raised and saved over 400 vessels . This Company commenced by paying its shareholders half-yearly dividends of 10 per cent . ; but , since July , 1857 , has regularly paid quarterly dividends of the like amount . A limited number of shares of 50 J . each , m tho Capital Stock of tho Patent Derrick Company remain for allotment .
